Sharjah Fertilizer Plant officially broke ground

The largest single-unit economic project for China and Bangladesh, the Sharjah Chemical Fertilizer Plant, broke ground in Fingiangje, Sylhet District, Bangladesh on the 24th. Representatives of the government of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Minister of Industry Dilip Barua, Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jun, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, and more than 1,000 people from all walks of life in Dhaka took part in the ground-breaking ceremony.

Hasina thanked China for its credit support for the project. She stated that Bangladesh is an agricultural country and that there is a great demand for chemical fertilizers. If the Sharjah chemical fertilizer project is successfully operated, Meng will continue to seek credit support and build two or three fertilizer plants.

Li Jun said that the Sharjah chemical fertilizer plant will help improve the situation of chemical fertilizers and energy shortages in Bangladesh and play a very important role in Bangladesh's agriculture and economic development. It will also deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.

China Zhongcheng Import & Export Co., Ltd. (Zhongcheng) and Bangladesh Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. signed the "Sharjah Chemical Fertilizer Plant Project Contract" on December 11 last year in Dhaka, with a total contract value of approximately 3.805 billion yuan (approximately Total 601 million U.S. dollars). Under the contract, Zhongcheng will build a chemical fertilizer plant with an annual output of 330,000 metric tons of synthetic ammonia and 580,800 metric tons of large-particle urea in the area of ​​the Silet area in northeastern Bangladesh for a period of 38 months.
