SKF Launches New McPherson Suspension Bearing Unit

On February 10, 2012, SKF announced the launch of a new McPherson suspension bearing unit that extends the service life of the unit and extends the overall service life of the suspension system.

The specific technical features of the new bearing unit are as follows:

• New seal design, low friction torque and excellent protection against external contamination. Compared with the standard seal, the penetration of water in the bearing after the test is reduced by 50% and the friction torque is reduced by 20%.

• New ball design increases 20% radial load capacity and reduces radial displacement by 40%.

• The metal spring tray is integrated in the lower bearing housing, which increases the deformation resistance by 50% and increases the stress tolerance of the corresponding components by 8%.
