The total investment of 18.8 billion yuan in the PX and PTA project of the Gure Petrochemical start-up project was settled in the Guleigang Economic Development Zone two years ago. This “best investment project in Ganzhou ever†has made Gu Lei the focus of the country and the world.

The momentum of the large industries in the Gulei Petrochemical Area has been highlighted.
Zeng Pingxi said that in accordance with the requirements of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, the management committee of the Guleigang Economic Development Zone has provided full service for project construction, insisted on a weekly meeting, strengthened communication, and timely grasped the dynamics; actively took the initiative to provide on-site service and coordinate issues.
Regarding the progress of the petrochemical project, Xie Huaqing, director of the chairman of Tenglong Aromatic Quzhou Co., Ltd., felt that he was “very interestedâ€. She said that in addition to the efforts of all levels of government, the design institutes, supervision units, and construction teams used by the project are all first class in China. The US UOP patented technology used by the project and the French AXSENS patented technology are the most advanced technologies.
In late December last year, after the successful lifting of the 124-meter-high heavy equipment xylene re-distillation tower in the Gulei petrochemical project, the construction of the Gulei petrochemical project entered the stage of full equipment installation. In order to speed up the progress, the petrochemical start-up area has stationed nearly 50 construction units and more than 2,000 construction personnel on the construction site. The construction of storage tanks, aromatic units, water treatment, thermal power plants and other major projects have been fully rolled out.
As of the end of July this year, the latest data shows that PX projects have completed a total investment of 13.784 billion yuan, accounting for 97.63% of the total investment in PX projects. The PX downstream project PTA also progressed smoothly. After the Shanghai Shunde Special Oil Project was officially started, more than 20,000 construction workers worked during the peak of the second half of last year. Currently, the project has completed investment of 3.576 billion yuan, accounting for 71.99% of the total investment.
At present, the trial production of petrochemical projects will take about 150 days. Chen Dong requested that Zhangzhou must win the pursuit and on the basis of significant achievements in the previous phase of project construction, he should work his way up, attack again, and do another 150 days to achieve a new breakthrough in the Gulei petrochemical project campaign, promote leapfrog development, and benefit the people of Ganzhou.
The two major projects can be basically completed by the end of the year and put into operation in the first quarter of next year. The Gulei Petrochemical Industrial Park will also build an oil refinery with an annual output of 15 million tons, an ethylene plant with an annual output of 2 million tons, utilities, terminals, and midstream and downstream plants, with a total investment of about 100 billion yuan. By 2015, the Guleigang Economic Development Zone will achieve an annual refining capacity of more than 20 million tons and an annual production value of up to 220 billion yuan.
In the eyes of the local people, their most direct benefit is that the Gulei petrochemical project has promoted an unprecedented improvement in the local infrastructure. Before the project is put into production, all local residents will be resettled in the northern Xingang City 800 meters away. Roads and other major roads have been expanded, and all land acquisition and demolition have been carried out according to the highest national standards. To date, more than 60 local university graduates have received training and will embark on a project production line in the future.
In addition, in order to meet the requirements for landing the project, the construction of piers, water supply, land reclamation, and solid waste disposal sites in the development zone have all started construction. Driven by the petrochemical project, a large number of petrochemical downstream projects or other projects have gradually entered Gu Lei. There are more than 40 Taiwan-funded projects under tracking.
