Valeo Acquires British CPT Electric Booster Technology

The Valeo Group has announced that it has acquired the Variable Torque Enhancement System (VTES) of Controlled Power Technologies' Variable Torque Enhancement System (VTES). The acquisition of this business is part of its strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

After the acquisition of CPT's VTES business, Valeo will become the first auto parts supplier to supply customers with a series of electric superchargers. Unlike conventional exhaust gas-driven turbochargers, the electric supercharger uses a switched reluctance motor to drive and the reaction speed is greatly increased.

CPT's VTES electric supercharger is independent of engine speed and can operate efficiently at low engine speeds. In addition, the electric booster is small and easy to install. In conjunction with Valeo's energy recovery system, the electric supercharger will provide highly competitive hybrid technology solutions that significantly reduce fuel consumption.
