Xinjiang Zhundong to build China's largest coal gas project

The reporter learned from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission that Xinjiang's Zhundong region will build China's largest coal gas project with a scale of 30 billion cubic meters to promote the development and transformation of Xinjiang's rich coal resources and ensure China's natural gas supply.

According to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission, the State Development and Reform Commission formally approved the preliminary work of the Xinjiang Jondong Coal Gas Demonstration Project on September 22, 2013.

The scale of the construction of the Zhundong Coal Gas Demonstration Project in Xinjiang reached 30 billion cubic meters per year, matching the scale of Sinopec's “New Yuezhe” pipeline (gas transmission capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year). The project has built a total of Wucaiwan, Dajing, and West. The five air source projects in Heishan, Karmat and Hefeng are jointly constructed by Sinopec, Huaneng Xinjiang, Xinjiang Longyu Energy, Zhejiang Energy Group and other companies and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The estimated total investment is 183 billion yuan. It will achieve a sales income of 55 billion yuan, a tax of 10.5 billion yuan, a direct solution to the employment of 18,000 people, and an annual coal consumption of 90 million tons.

The Zhundong region is located in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. The estimated reserves of coal are 390 billion tons, and proven reserves are 213.6 billion tons. It is China's largest and most resource-rich coal field.
