Future ARM chips will have built-in SIM cards

When designing smartphones, we noticed that their smart phone manufacturers tend to balance a large number of functions, a larger capacity battery, new sensors, and keeping the phone slim and light. Over the years, we have achieved this goal by removing certain components such as the headphone jack and reducing the size of the SIM card.

However, in the future, the mobile phone does not seem to need to use an external physical SIM card, because it may be built into the handset itself, or at least this is what ARM hopes to achieve. They recently announced a new technology that can be seen in future ARM-based chips with built-in SIM cards, which means that the traditional SIM card slots in our phones can be used for other functions or completely abolished.
As ARM pointed out, this is not limited to mobile phones as it is also applicable to non-mobile devices based on ARM chips. It can also be used in IoT devices with built-in SIM cards. There are some devices that have already deployed similar technologies.
This includes Apple’s iPad, which has a built-in SIM card, and Apple Watch 3 also comes with its own built-in SIM card.
