Honeywell to Launch a New Generation of Gasoline Turbocharger

The reporter learned on October 9, 2011 that Honeywell has expressed its desire to introduce a new generation of gasoline turbochargers within three years. Compared with the existing turbocharger, the turbocharger is light in weight, small in size, and low in inertia.

European car manufacturers must meet strict emission standards to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Honeywell's new gasoline turbocharger is just right for turbocharger acceleration and boost due to its low inertia, so the turbocharger not only performs well but also has high fuel efficiency. Honeywell expects to sell 18.2 million turbochargers in the light-vehicle market in 2011, increasing sales to 3,040 by 2015. In 2011, 11.2 million units were sold in the European market and increased to 16.9 million units in 2015.

Honeywell holds 50% of the global turbocharger market share. The strongest competitor is BorgWarner. However, Honeywell recently faced a more severe competition situation, especially in Europe, mainly due to the cooperation between Continental Group and Schaeffler, which launched its first turbocharger at the end of 2011. The Bosch Group and Mal The group's joint venture company also plans to start producing turbochargers in 2011.
